Warhammer.. It's now legit

I know some of you played Warhammer Online back in the day and my main complaint was always long waits in BG queues and limited RVR action. A few weeks ago I fired the game back up to see what it was like. The first thing I noticed is that they consolidated a bunch of servers. Normally this means the end is near so I was a little worried.

So in order to play I had to transfer my characters to a server. I chose Badlands mostly because it was the first in the list. I log my dude in and I am at a warcamp in some zone and I immediately get this war herald screen. Basically it tells you where the hawt action is currently. The next thing I notice is a shit ton of gold spam.. Which for a dying game is sorta weird. The first thing I do is I jump in the scenario queue (similar to BGs in WoW) and I get an instapop. I was expecting I would have time to get my interface all set up and stuff while waiting in the queue like it always used to be. So things are looking up for this game in my mind.

So I play a few BGs for the night enjoying the instaqueue action. So the next night I log back in and I notice all this activity in the tier 3 realm chat channel talking about castle raids and taking battlefield objectives. So I see a jump in the overflow warband plea and jump in. I find out where they are and fly there. comes to find out that I was in the 2nd overflow warband. which ended up getting filled up. For those who are not familiar a warband has 24 people in it.. We were rolling with over 3 full warbands. We ended up taking a bunch of battlefield objectives and some keeps. Again.. this is a bonus. So we take a bunch of castles and shit when the call comes out that a large Order group is attacking one of our casles so we all cruise over there.

We roll into the castle and I can tell right away shit was nuts.. They had taken our first gate and were setting up a ram on the keep door. They were protecting their rear pretty well preventing us from re-enforcing the defense at the castle. Eventually through rezzing we were able to get enough dudes on out castle walls to eventually push them back. When I say eventually I am talking over an hour of an epic battle going back and forth. To put things in perspective I played warhammer for like 3 months after launch and participated in a single castle siege and maybe there was 10 of us raiding a castle and the defense was a few dudes from the order side and it was laggy as hell.

Thinking this was a fluke I logged in the next night and was able to immediately able to join a warband and rock some castles. Again more batttles but nothing like the hour long epic army batttles of the previous night. I still had a blast though. So I was playing the other night and was able to get some screenshots.

This was when I was in a warbband with about 50 dudes and we ran into some stiff resistance at an order held castle. We ended up losing even though we had seige weapons:

This was another night and I was in overflow 3 and we were rollin some order:

I am only in Tier 3 still but I heard Tier 4 is even crazier. How do I know this? I logged in 2 nights ago and I had logged off in the city. Well I spawned in some bootleg camp cause order had taken our capital city.. I am having a good time with this game right now. The other good thing is it works on the mac. The performance isn't as good as it looks like they are running it under wine but its playable. It beats booting to windows every time I want to play it. Anyways.. I thought folks would like to see where this game has gone.

Smooth out

Oh, how the Koreans love their video games. The couple in this story left their child to die of malnutrition. They returned home from a 12 hour session of playing Prius Online to find their 3 month old daughter dead from starvation.
Need a proxy? Use Google app engine!

There's a great little tutorial I found, linked off of Lifehacker about how to leverage Google apps to create your own proxy.
